Importance of Blind Cord Safety
An article was recently featured in the Sydney Morning Herald about a toddler who was nearly severely injured after the cord from a shade cloth became wrapped around his neck. The blind wasn't properly secured for child safety.
TODDLER RESCUED
A Newcastle mother saved her son's life when she found him hanging from their backyard shade cloth with a cord around his neck. The three-year-old was trying to be Batman while climbing on the back verandah on Saturday when his mother, Rebecca Phillips, was alerted by the whimpering of the family dog, Noodles. The boy was rushed to John Hunter Hospital by ambulance and was released yesterday. Mrs Phillips, who is 10 weeks pregnant, had been reading a Kidsafe brochure on the danger's of blind cords around the hous last week.
